Janmashtami or Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated as a Hindu festival which is the birth of Krishna who was the eighth Avatar of Vishnu. The boys who form a pyramid are called Govindas who forms and climb above one another to form a human pyramid to break the pot. When these people break the pot, the all yogurt from the pot and the pot breaks and falls and people collect it as their prasad from God.

Now, these Janmashtami event has been celebrated as an event organized by many local areas, and the people from groups called as Mandal comes from area to area to break the pot and whoever breaks the pot gets the prize money.

Not only in Maharashtra but this festival is also celebrated in Gujarat in Northern India Eastern India West Bengal with the great joy and happiness within all the people, and they celebrate this festival as people celebrate in Maharashtra.

Not only in India but this festival of Janmashtami is also celebrated in Nepal Bangladesh Pakistan and the other United States too.

The people in Nepal and Bangladesh visit to the temples and recite the Bhagavad Gita and Sing bhajans in the temple all the night and the people in the United States also organise this festival of Janmashtami and the people of the United States also visit India and form pyramid groups and try to break the dahi handi in India.
