Swachh Bharat is a campaign to make the India clean and green, which started as a national movement by the Indian government with the goal of clearing the infrastructure, roads, and walkways of the 4041 statutory towns of the country.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially started it on October 2, 2014, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on Rajghat of New Delhi. During the onset of this campaign, Prime Minister Modi himself cleaned the road. This is the biggest cleaning campaign so far, in which children of school colleges with 30 lakh government employees also took part in the movement.
Opening Ceremony
On the opening day of this campaign, the Prime Minister designated nine persons associated with art, sports, and literature to pursue this mission in their respective fields. School colleges also organized many programs in their way.
Prime Minister Modi urged those nine nominees that he selected from his side who participated in entire India’s Cleanliness campaign and thus created a whole human chain in which every Indian should be involved in every corner of the country and Move forward in the form of a national mission.
Motive Of Mission
Like any branch of a tree, the purpose of this mission is to connect every single person in India, whether it is from any profession. The aim of the Swachh Bharat Mission is to provide health-care toilets to all the families living below the poverty line.
To convert waste toilets to low-cost health-care toilets, provide hand pumps, safe bathing, hygiene market, Proper drainage system of hose, solid and liquid waste, awareness of education and health, domestic and environmental cleanliness, etc.
Awareness
The personal hygiene and environmental hygiene of the Government of India, many awareness programs (such as Full Sanitation Campaign, Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, etc.) were started, but such campaigns did not prove to be very effective.
The main goal of this campaign is to eliminate open defecation, transforming unhealthy toilets into healthy toilets that are excavated, not to scrub away the toilet, to dispose of solid and liquid wastes properly, people with cleanliness to make people aware, to make changes in people’s thinking, facilitate the participation of private sectors towards cleanliness facilities etc.
Nominated Peoples
There were nine members nominated by the Prime Minister in this mission, the entire team of Salman Khan, Anil Ambani, Kamal Haasan, Comedian Kapil Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, Baba Ramdev, Sachin Tendulkar, Shashi Tharoor and famous TV serial “Tarak Mehta’s Ulta Chashma.”
Indian film actor Amir Khan was invited on the occasion of its launch. For this campaign, several brand ambassadors were also selected by the Prime Minister, who had the responsibility to initiate and promote the Clean India campaign in different regions.
On November 8, 2014, he added a few more people (Mohammed Kaif, Suresh Raina, Akhilesh Yadav, Swami Ram Bhadracharya, Kailash Kher, Raju Shrivastav, Manu Sharma, Devi Prasad Dwivedi, and Manoj Tiwari) and on December 25, 2014, Sourav Ganguly, Kiran Bedi, Ramoji Rao, Sonal Mansingh, and Padmanabha Acharya, etc. were made part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
