The word clean India is a campaign in India whose aim is to get India clean by cleaning the roads of the cities and villages developing good infrastructure and the main aim of clean India is to develop household or community owned toilets in the rural areas and smaller town so that the people need not need to toilet in an open space they can do it by using them which help in getting a clean environment. They also focus on the mechanism for monitoring the use of this toilet.
This mission also in to achieve an open defecation free India by the date of 2 October 2019 this day is also an auspicious day as it is the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi.
History
In India before the cleanliness was not taken as a serious problem. The main problem was the defection of people in an open area which lead to many problems by the year of 2017 India was with the highest number of people practicing defecation in open area.
The Government of India has launched the portal sanitization campaign on 1st April 1999 which reduce defecation in the open to a lesser extent, and in 2012 it was renamed as Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
After this campaign, a swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2 October 2014 in New Delhi.
This had two missions swachh Bharat Abhiyan which was operated under the ministry of drinking and another mission which was operated under the ministry of housing and urban affairs which was about developing the infrastructure.
Effects

This program has also received funds and technical support from the World Bank. The ministry of Railway has also planned to provide clean bedroll with automatic laundry and bio-toilets and dustbin in all coaches.
