The full name of the Kalam was Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. He took birth on 15th of October 1931 in a poor Tamil-Muslim family in Rameshwaram at Tamil Nadu. The parents of Kalam were Jainulabdeen and Ashima.
The father of Kalam has owned a boat and was an imam in a local mosque. Whereas the mother was a homemaker. Kalam has four elder brothers and a sister. The family of Abdul Kalam had suffered a lot due to poverty as a result at a very early age Kalam decided to help in earning the livelihood for the family. He started the selling newspaper.

As soon as Kalam completed his graduation, he was appointed as chief scientist in Aeronautical Development Establishment of Research and Development Organization. Whereas for the first project of the indigenous satellite launch vehicle, Kalam was hired as the director of the project.
From the year,1992 to 1999 he was appointed as the scientific advisor of the prime minister. After the success of Pokhran II nuclear test in which Kalam was working as chief project coordinator, he got the title of Missile man of India.
