A warm evening to one and all present here. Today I am here to speak few words based on the problem of the urbanization in India which is increasing rapidly in the urban areas.
What is urbanization?
Urbanization is the process by which a large number of people becomes permanently concentrated in small areas forming cities.
The definition of a city or an urban area changes from time to time and place to place.
Due to the poor farming facilities and the technology, the farming family gets the shift towards the urban areas.
The share of urban population in India increased about 11 percent in 1911 to about 28 percent in 2001.
The rate of urbanization has however increased, the rate of urbanization has however been uneven across the states.
For example, the union territory of Delhi is the most urbanized with as much as 93.18 percent of its population living in urban areas.
Urban Population Increases By
- Transformation of rural areas into urban areas
- Migration from rural areas
- The natural increase of the urban population
The Most Populated State
The small state in the world is the most populated state in India; Goa is the most urbanized among the state with the almost one half of its population living in urban areas. The least urbanized state is Himachal Pradesh is9.3 percent.
Urbanization is considered beneficial because of better awareness and response of people to social issues in general. Urbanization thereby contributes to modernization and social change.
The slums in the metro cities have been increasing. There are 93 million Indian living in the slums by the census of 2011.
As this level of the population is very poor and which do not get the proper facilities.
Importance Of Urbanization
Around 22% of the urban population lives in slums, and around 25% are below poverty lines. We need many of the planning for the management of the current cities that is quality of life and the proper opportunities for all.
The rate of the infrastructure facilities should be proper for the all the citizens that is like the housing, hospitals, schools for the children, transport and the commercial sectors.
A there should be proper maintenance of the road, and the transport system as agriculture is the backbone of our country and also for the foreign incomes. Transport is also same as the agriculture.
Road transport is the main for the development of metro cities, and rail transport to is important. Due to the overpopulation in the country, the vehicles are also crowding.
There is a lot to do to improve the urban infrastructure, and huge amounts of the money will be required to do this perfection in the country. It is the impossible for the government to all of this by itself.
So only by the government, it is not possible private sector also has to involve in the same.
Due to this problem, unemployment has also been increasing, a population is more, but the jobs for the crowd are very less to bring it in control. It is the duty of every citizen in India.
So the people sitting here must be known the effects of the urbanization in our country.
I am thanking you.
