Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi or Mahatma Gandhi is a very famous leader and a freedom fighter in our India. He was a great freedom fighter who led our India as a leader against the British rule. Mahatma Gandhi was born on 2nd of October in 1869 in Porbandar which is in Gujarat in India.
When Gandhiji was born India was under the rules of the British. His family members were working for the government. Mahatma Gandhi is also referred as the father of nation or Bapu because of his great contribution towards our country and because of him, our country could able to free from the British rule and get independence.
This name Bapu was given to him by Subhas Chandra Bose and also Rabindranath Tagore gave him a name as Martyr of the nation. He was a great social activist and a national leader of our country.
Mahatma Gandhi had studied law and took a career in the law and he went to seek the knowledge in England and from there after seeking some knowledge in England he directly went to South Africa to learn some more about law education.
In South Africa, there were many racial laws that have been imposed on the people as the laws were only white people are getting all the things and the dark skin people are neglected and because of this there are many racial differences between the people.
Once Gandhiji was travelling in a train in South Africa and the white people there neglected Gandhiji and thrown him out of the train and because of this law that has imposed on the people Gandhiji decided to change this law of South African people and he worked very hard to change the law and give rights to the dark people as equal as white people.
And then after by seeking all the knowledge in law he came to India and saw that there were many British rulers who wear imposing on Indian so he decided to free our India from the Britishers and lead many movements to free our India.
He was one of the people who believed in non violence and Unity of the people and brought spirituality in the Indian politics he worked hard for the removal of untouchability in Indian society and the upliftment of the backward classes in India raised voice to develop villages for social development and many more and inspired other people to fight against the Britishers and to free our India from them.
Gandhiji was one of the people who converted peoples dream of Independence into a truth as he invented many ideas and give many sacrifices to get our India to be free British.
He had many difficulties in life but continued working as a great leader. After the independence in 1947 and giving all his life to the freedom of India, Gandhiji assassinated by Nathuram Godse in the year 1948.
Nathuram Godse was a social Hindu activist and he thought that Gandhiji was very much close to Muslims and because of this Hindu-Muslim religious war he shot Mahatma Gandhi and he was then jailed.
Gandhiji was a great leader and a great inspiration for many of the people and his movements are also followed in this today’s world.
